Backups & Disaster Recovery

Why Do I Need To Backup My Data?

We’ve all lost data before in our lives, and we all know the great terror this loss brings. Whether it’s due to hardware failure, accidental deletion, or your computer being lost or stolen, nothing can bring back the time lost recovering from these losses.

With industry-standard backup services, INS can help prevent data loss and keep your business moving forward, come what may.

How Do I Know If I Need A Backup Of My System?

The way to know is to find out what’s on the system and determine if what’s on it is important to you. If you can’t risk losing it, you need a backup. INS can set up continuous, automated, customized backups for any of your computer systems.

What Can INS Backup On My Workstation?

We can backup the whole system and all the files on it. Ideally, we would attach a local hard drive for local backups and use our own cloud-based backup service to run offsite backups. If your system fails, we can use those backups to rebuild your computer as it was and keep you moving.

Can INS Backup My Server?

Yes we can. Following the ‘3-2-1’ rule of backups, we would set up local and remote backups and manage it via our customizable backup software. Our backup service can run the backups at any time of day you choose, retains several backups going back at least two weeks, and notifies us if the backups are successful or not.

If the unthinkable happens, we will be there working to get your company back up and running as soon as possible.

The 3-2-1 Backup Strategy

The golden rule of backups is called ‘3-2-1’ and it guides the INS approach to backing up your valuable data.

What is 3-2-1?

3 – Copies of your data.

2 – Different locations for your data.

1 – Of those locations must be in another building.

What Does That Mean?

It means that a properly backed up system has three different copies of your data, one of which is the primary, live, one you use. The second is usually a local backup stored somewhere onsite, and the third must be an exact copy stored somewhere offsite. This ensures that there is a local backup ready to go in case of a crash, and a robust offsite backup available in the event of a fire or act of God.
